Kayaker’s Rescue Training — Volunteers Only
Metroparks is offering to NWORR experienced paddlers the opportunity to participate in a Kayaker’s Rescue Training Class, in exchange for participating in this class – participants agree to volunteer with the Metroparks for a minimum of 15 hours – this year – and participate in Volunteer Orientation.
Kayak Rescue Training is a 4-hour class to be held at Wiregrass Park. This class will instruct participants how to rescue people who have fallen out of their boats. It will emphasize giving verbal instructions on what the person is to do, as well as boat to boat rescue and minimal training on how to teach this skill to others. By taking this training, the Metroparks will be able to utilize class participants in outings and/or classes; however, Metroparks welcomes all to become volunteers and help with outings even without this training. Metroparks will be able to utilize you on a higher level once you have this training.
Class Date/Time: Saturday, June 4, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. OR 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. FREE (with intent to volunteer minimum of 15 hours)
Location: Wiregrass Park: 201 N Eber Rd, Holland, OH 43528 (Map/Directions)
This training is meant for an EXPERIENCED paddler that wishes to become a dedicated paddling volunteer. We will cover the majority of what we typically cover in a rescue course with emphasis on the role of a volunteer.
If you cannot make either training on June 4, please let Ashley Smith know at 419-265-2920 or Ashley.firstname.lastname@example.org. We will try to fit you in some other time.
